Cards as Chiropractic Marketing Tools
Business cards are
one of the most cost
effective ways to market a chiropractic business. They are obviously
one of the
best chiropractic marketing tools you can purchase for your practice
and yet
most chiropractic entrepreneurs will completely overlook their
importance while
simultaneously underestimating their potential to positively impact the
level
of patient growth in the practice setting. There
are a number of good companies that
exist in the market place that will allow you to create a high quality
product
for your business at a very nominal charge.
Business cards are
easy to produce, easy to
store and most importantly very easy to carry on your person at all
times. The
more of these cards that you give out, the more visible your practice
becomes.
Never be shy about giving out business cards in an effort to market
your
practice. When you go out to dinner always be sure to leave behind your
card.
Whenever you attend networking functions of any sort you should take
with you
an ample supply of cards. Remember that business cards are like seeds
in a
garden. The more of them you plant the
Design
Your business card
should include your trade
name, the chiropractor's name, phone number, fax number, address,
office hours
and some professional services that you may provide. In addition, a
logo can be
placed on the card to identify your profession.
When designing
your card it is also important
to keep your word count to a minimum. You certainly want to provide
prospects
with enough vital information about your business but on the other hand
you
never want to make the card too busy with excess content. Instead you
should
try to create a simple yet very pleasing to look at product that
attempts to
get your unique company message out to the general community.
Another important
item to remember is to keep
the font on your business card at a reasonable size that is easy for
most
people to read. I have witnessed, on many occasions, business cards
that have
featured very small print which makes me not want to look at the card.
Sometimes the print is large enough to read but the color schemes that
have
been chosen make the card a difficult view. A lot of careful thought
and
consideration should go into the general design of your product. Do not
just
throw the document together without taking the time to think about what
you are
trying to achieve.
It is equally
important to make sure that your
card stands apart from other competitors. Try to remember that your
primary
goal is to make your business card grab the attention of prospective
patients.
Although it might be an easy task to get your card into the hands of a
prospect
it is a much bigger challenge to try and keep those potential patients
from
tossing your marketing masterpiece into a garbage can or perhaps filing
it into
a drawer where it will never be seen again by human eyes. You might
also
consider making your cards magnets so that patients can stick them on a
refrigerator or some other kitchen appliance that is always in a
visible
location.
When purchasing
business cards it is most
advisable to select a higher quality of paper stock and certainly a
brand that
helps to convey for you a truly professional image. Each time that you
hand out
your card you are actually handing the prospect or the patient your
professional signature which is a direct reflection of your
professional image.
If your card looks like it has been produced on flimsy or cheap looking
paper or
if the general appearance of your card looks unprofessional, people
will make a
mental note of this fact and they will be more likely to judge you and
your
practice in a negative light.
Proof
Read
Although this seems like a common sense item to
write about I think it is important enough to point out that you should
always
proof read your finished product before you authorize the initial
order. You
can save yourself a lot of headaches, additional expenses and extra
frustration
by making sure that everything is suitable to print and that the final
proof is
free from grammatical errors.
Use
It!
I absolutely
believe that it is important to
make your business cards work for you and this cannot be accomplished
by
leaving them stored in the box they were shipped in. Take your business
cards
with you everywhere you go and be sure to place them on bulletin boards
in
super markets, leave them at the schools your kids go to when doing
health
talks and leave them in the local libraries when scheduling health
seminars for
the people in your community.
You should also make a genuine effort to visit
each business owner in your town. Tell each owner that you are new to
the area
and that you would appreciate any advice he or she might have to offer
about
running a business in the community. Exchange business cards with this
person
and write down important information that you talked about on the back
of the
person's card. Later on you will review your notes and you will write a
personalized letter to each individual thanking him or her for any
advice that
might have been offered. You should take the time to invite each
business owner
to come visit you at your business location. You will repeat this
process for
every business owner that you meet in your community. This is how you
get
yourself known in your community and the exchanging of business cards
is a very
useful vehicle in accomplishing this important exercise.
